RVYC’s First Fall Cruising Dinner
In September 2014, after Coast Guard Captain Bill Noon and his crew aboard the icebreaker CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier located the wreck of Erebus, the world let out a deep breath.
It had been more than a century-and-a-half since Sir John Franklin had left Englandon his third Arctic expedition. Trapped by ice, he and his ships had been lost ever since. Numerous seafarers had searched for the lost Erebus and its companion ship Terror, but had been unsuccessful.
At this cruising dinner Capt. Bill Noon will tell RVYC members the professional and personal details of skippering the ship that found the Erebus near King William Island in Nunavut—news that reverberated around the world.
