TENDER Storage at Cadboro Bay – Registration is now OPEN

Do you have a tender at Cadboro Bay that requires storage in one of our new tender storage locations? It is now time to register your intentions, as tender storage spaces will be initially assigned within the next several weeks according to the recently-amended Moorage Regulations, as published on the website. Note that this notice only applies to yacht tenders (NOT sailing dinghy’s) at our Cadboro Bay marina. Tender space assignments at Tsehum have already been done.

There are three types of tender storage available:

1. Slope floats: These are designed primarily for inflatables with engines, but can be used for any tender that a member may wish to store this way. There are two slope floats already built and assigned on “M” dock, however there is currently a waitlist for more of this type of tender spot and additional construction is one of our first priorities. These spaces, as they have for the past three years, have a monthly fee of $28.07 a month.

2. Stand-up “Booth” Racks: These racks accommodate one or two tenders, either inflatable or hard-shell, normally without a motor attached. This type of rack has been ordered and will be arriving shortly, and will be located throughout the marina in the “infill” areas. It is our plan to have them assigned as close as possible to a Members’ vessel. One of the bolts securing the rack to the dock will have an “eye” for securing a security cable or chain. The cost for this type of tender storage is $10.00 per month. There is a wheeled dolly available on the dock for use in moving your dinghy around the marina.

3. Timber Racks on the docks: These will be new construction of the type of rack we have used in the past, also located in the “infill” areas and assigned close to members’ wet-moored vessels. There will be two sizes: a larger width for inflatables and a narrower width for hard tenders. We anticipate only having to build two levels, but may consider adding a third level in future. The cost for this type of tender storage is $6.00 per month.

All tender storage spaces will be assigned to a Member exactly as we manage our wet and dry moorage slips, sailing dinghy racks and kayak rack. The assignment process will be managed by the Foreshore and Moorage Assignment Committee according to the approved Moorage Regulations, in a fully transparent manner. We will endeavour to meet member demand by continually monitoring waitlists and constructing new spaces as required.

Members are reminded that an alternative to using club tender storage facilities is to keep your tender on your vessel, or remove it from Club property. Moorage Regulations prohibit tenders lying alongside your vessel longer than 14 days, so keeping your tender in the water in your slip is not a sustainable alternative. Tenders will not be allowed on the docks or foreshore without an assigned space and a current decal.

It is now time to advise the Office of your intent to keep your tender properly stored on Club property. Forms are available and can be completed/ submitted by email, in person or by phone. An online form is also available on the RVYC Website here

Contact Claire in the office for further details. (250-592-2441, ).

For registration, the following information will be needed: member #, tender decal # (this is now mandatory), storage type preferred (#1, 2, 3 or 4 as noted above), tender type and dimensions, and wet moorage slip location (if applicable).

Tender storage is available to members with vessels assigned both wet or dry moorage, vessels at anchor, and members without vessels at Cadboro Bay. Priority for initial assignments will be given to members with wet moorage, however it is our intent to meet demand from all members requiring tender storage. Initially, only one tender per member will be assigned storage, however we will keep a waitlist of additional tender storage requirements and assign these as space becomes available.
