Royal Victoria Yacht Club Open House
On Saturday, June 16, 2017 the Royal Victoria Yacht Club opened its doors to about 200 guests and around 50 volunteers for the Open House. Plenty of young families, sailing enthusiasts, curious neighbors and guests of friends walked the historic halls of the Club.
All guests receieved a warm welcome from Heather Brazier and Victoria Ehmann at the registration desk, upon entering the Club. They were given a quick explanation of the day's activities and a scavenger hunt to complete. This scavenger hunt took visitors to every station of the Club such as the Main Lounge and every booth inside, the playground, Foreshore, Sailing, Decorated Boats, Mini 12's and everything in between.
Complimentary hot dogs and juice boxes were served by the very friendly and inviting Steve and Arden White out on the patio, where guests could take a moment and relax in the (trying to be sunny) day.
Lots of planning goes into a day such as this, and it wouldn't have been possible without the guidance and organization of Membership Committee Chair, Caroline Ehmann.
We'd like to congratulate the following guests on winning the grand prizes. The prizes were drawn from the returned scavenger hunts that were completed and filled out:
Nadra, a 39 year old woman – two-month temporary membership. Nadra was most interested in the Mini 12’s because she had never seen one before.
Krista, a 28 year old woman – two-month temporary membership. Krista was most interested in sailing because she didn’t know all that much about it before.
Max, a 9 year old young man - $300 credit towards ISP.Max was most interested in the boats because he thought they were really cool!
Keep your eyes posted for the next Open House in 2019!
