Cruising Dinner - Up the Irrawaddy :: Cruising & Dinners
RVYC Presents an Exciting Offshore Cruising Dinner on November 16
Up the Irrawaddy—a Boat Trip on Myanmar’s Iconic River
The Irrawaddy River bisects Myanmar, once known as Burma. It’s Myanmar’s main transportation artery. David and Marianne Scott took a river cruise on a small ship, with only 50 passengers and will tell RVYC members about this unique adventure.
Amazingly, the Irrawaddy Explorer, a 188-foot river cruiser had fewer navigational instruments than their own sv Beyond the Stars. The Scotts will reveal what it takes for theship’s crew to navigate an ever-changing river, how the Myanmarese live, how religion overwhelmingly shapes their lives, and the beauties—and troubles—of this mysterious land.
